Thinking About Felicity's Collection

At one time, I had a complete collection of Felicity items. I loved the quality of her things, especially the retired, pre-mattel ones. I worked hard to get them, thinking that someday I would have a nice place to display them all. Several years ago, my father started to build me one of Meg's doll rooms for Lissie.

It was becoming beautiful- he put a little fireplace in there and everything, and then he became frustrated with our lack of space and totally abandoned the project (and once he has his mind made up about dropping a project, he'll never start doing it again). This upset me in countless ways, mainly because he tore the box apart, and it was so gorgeous- with the fireplace and the wooden floors and hand plastered walls.

This also took the fun out of my Felicity collection, since all of her pretty things are lying, unused, in their boxes. I've started to sell some of her furniture items, that were really difficult and expensive for me to collect- off. And all of this is because my father was stubborn...uggh...it annoys me so much.
I just don't have anything or anywhere to place it in now. I want most of it to go to people who will display it properly. I'm not selling her or her outfits or my favorite things, but most of it is going to go.

Because of this, I'm also offering her Winter Amusements- which I was never particularly attached to anyway, for sale. Please go ahead and make an offer. I know they are fairly valuable and mine are intact and almost new. Email me at [email protected] for pictures or details, or to make an offer.

I know it isn't my place really to say anything, but that breaks my heart. Don't sell off your Felicity collection- you'll probably really regret it later, even though you already sold the furniture. I have some ideas on displaying with less space if you want, and maybe that would allow you to enjoy your items until you can have a doll room made and acquire the furniture again. I am only missing about eight of Felicity's retired items (mostly small accessory sets) and I sincerely wish I could finish it. Last year I sold a couple small sets I was not very attached to when I needed the money and now I kick myself because I'm worried I'll never get them back one day. [img]frown.gif[/img]

I agree you should try to hold on to the sets, Liz. I can understand how devastated you would be after your father tore apart the box. That must have really hurt. Maybe you can wrap up the items and store them away for a while, even for years. I doubt you will regret keeping them years from now, long after this painful time has passed. And perhaps a future daughter or niece would be thrilled to get them if you still don't want them.

I too hope you hang into your precious Felicity items. You probably have some items I would love to have but I will pass on inquiring about them as it would make me feel bad to have them.

Give yourself some time to be angry and hurt. That's normal. But don't do anything hasty regarding selling off your pieces.
